Speaking of hadeeths there are eight animals allowed to slaughter on Eid-ul-Adha they include:- Goat (Male & Female),Cow(Male & Female),Camel(Male & Female) and Sheep(Male & Female) i.e. Muzakkar and moannas. Apart from this buffalo slaughter is a special case. It can be slaughtered on the condition that you can't afford the above mention animals or as in India you can't slaughter cow then it is thought wise to slaughter buffalo and consider it in the genetic pool of cows but it is disliked if you can afford the above animals (leaving cow in India).

Now coming to cow slaughter it is prohibited in our constitution under article 48 due to religious beliefs in India.Kerala, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim are the states where there are no restrictions on cow slaughter.

Now in the light of the religion is it okay to slaughter cows hiddenly?

The answer is no it isn't. Slaughtering cow in the banned states is not okay because Islam says to follow the laws of the country/states in which you are living. To extent that eating the meat of cow which is slaughtered against the law is also disliked. So, it is requested to not indulge in such activities.

In North India buffalo is the most economical animal to slaughter.

You will not become Non-Muslim by not slaughtering cow.

There are some in the society that they don't do a single practice of Islam like praying, fasting, giving alms or anything but wanted cows meat to eat so there are black sheep but do maintain a distance with them.
